Environmental Issues
Burlington operate seven
quarries in and around the English Lake District - one of the oldest
and largest of the National Parks. Because of the sensitive areas in
which some of the quarries are situated Burlington work closely with
local planning authorities and environmental groups in order to
minimise any impact that its operations may have on the landscape.
As part of this co-operation, in 2000 Burlington was proud to become a
member of the Corporate Forum for National Parks. This is made up of
companies that have interests within the various National Parks. The
members meet regularly with the Campaign for National Parks to discuss
current projects along with any forthcoming changes to government
policy on environmental matters.
