Stone quarried by Burlington is around 400 million years old and with the
correct care and attention should not deteriorate in any way.
Your new stone furniture is an entirely natural product. Like any good
quality wooden furniture it needs to be carefully maintained to avoid damage and
to preserve its natural beauty. After honing to a deep matt lustre finish, the
surface has been treated with a stain inhibitor. The inhibitor will deter
everyday stains, but as with quality wood, every care should be taken to avoid
prolonged contact with acidic substances such as citric acids, wine, vinegar
etc. Most marks can be removed with a damp cloth and then "Buffed" up again with
a dry cotton cloth. Very dilute neutral non-soap detergent may be used for
removing stubborn marks. Bleach or citrus based cleaning substances are not
recommended. Neither are products containing abrasives. Damaged areas can be
repaired locally, it is unnecessary to strip and reseal the entire surface.
With the correct care and attention your Burlington stone top will remain an
item of beauty for years to come.
