BURLINGTON STONE FLIES THE BRITISH FLAG AT BALI
British hard landscaping specialists, stone engineers Burlington, rocked when the new BALI 2011 Landscaping Show opened its doors for the first time this week. In doing so, BALI members Burlington promoted their capabilities as a total solutions provider in hard landscaping, whilst giving equal prominence to their position as Britain’s leading producer of natural stone products.
As Nick Williams, Burlington Stone’s Sales & Marketing Director comments: “We certainly helped to fly the flag for British stone at The Landscaping Show, something we achieved by promoting the virtues of specifying what is the finest and most durable stone in the world, available from British craftsmen who have nearly 175 years experience in stone engineering.”
And whilst Burlington used the exhibition to introduce what is a constantly expanding product offering to landscape architects, designers, contractors, specifiers and procurement professionals, they offered a special BALI quote to those members who registered an interest with the company over the two day show.
As Nick Williams added: “When it comes to either bespoke or off-the-shelf products, we want contractors to appreciate the fact that they can source highly-engineered and complete landscaping solutions from Burlington as a manufacturer. At the same time, it is important for us to communicate to landscape architects in particular, our unique proposition of offering a range of British natural stones and finishes that emanate direct from the one source. Not surprisingly, therefore, we used the BALI show to promote the introduction of new products to our landscaping product range, in particular our new cropped walling and tumbled cobble sets.”
Enabling landscape designers and contractors to combine uniform shapes and lines with random materials as a means of bringing designs to life - from formal to informal, traditional to contemporary – is a wide and diverse array of both off-the-shelf and bespoke products.
With the permanence of the stone serving to provide a perfect contrast to the evolving shape of planting, whilst interacting with other landscaping materials, Burlington now offers modular units of cropped walling stone that are simple and easy to install. Continuing to deliver that authentic look, Burlington’s cropped walling is supplied with random lengths and heights, however has a nominal 150mm fixed bed dimension.
Symbolic of the Lake District and an integral element of its unique landscape, walling stone has been used for centuries to create superstructures of every conceivable shape, size and form. Not surprisingly, Burlington continues to offer both traditional random and weathered walling in both blue/grey and Westmorland Green stone.
Additionally, Burlington promoted its recently introduced range of tumbled cobble sets. Available in Blue/Grey Kirkby stone, the cobble sets have been created to deliver an authentic look and can be laid as a traditional cobble or on sharp sand.
Also figuring prominently were standard tile packs, all of which are suitable for creating hard landscaping areas such as patio areas, pathways, not to mention circular patio sets. Guaranteed to deliver a lasting statement of permanence and substance, Burlington paving is unmatched in terms of its technical performance when compared to many other stones, natural and reconstituted. Extremely hard wearing, practical and durable, Burlington stone is available with a choice of smooth and textured finishes.
Completing Burlington’s landscaping product offering are decorative and functional aggregates that are an ideal medium for any kind of hard landscaping design. Available in a multitude of sizes, from dusts and fines, to mulches to paddlestones, they are commonly used for a variety of applications including the creation of garden paths, driveways, ponds and water features.
Burlington’s mulch products, in particular, are widely sought after as an inexpensive, low-maintenance gardening solution. As well as providing an attractive contrast when used in conjunction with paving/feature stones, Burlington’s slate mulch actually benefits the soil’s growing conditions, without degrading or breaking down.
