Full Story:

As part of its dynamic corporate development strategy, stone engineers, Cumbria-based Burlington, is looking to increase both the availability and accessibility of its natural stone product offering, initially with the introduction of a standard/off-the-shelf range of floor and wall tiles. The Lakeland natural stone producer is also actively developing distribution via the appointment of a network of specialist stockists, recognised for supplying premium quality and high value products.

With various product lines set to be introduced as part of a rolling launch programme, internal and external floor and wall tiles/paving are Burlington’s first area of focus. Now available from stock is a range of tiles that are orientated towards the domestic and contract arena, and which come in five natural stone colours – Broughton Moor, Kirkby, Brandy Crag, and two limestones, Caulfeild and Lord.

Supplied as 12mm thick tiles (15mm for limestone), the new range takes in four standard sizes - 600 x 600mm, 600 x 300mm, 600 x 150mm and 300 x 300mm - all of which can be combined to compose a myriad of decorative and attractive flooring schemes. Whilst standard product is being supplied with a honed finish, Burlington is offering customers the opportunity to introduce further variety by specifying product in a number of textured finishes, all of which can be applied to short lead-times.

Commenting on this latest move, Burlington’s Sales and Marketing Director, Nick Williams said: “The decision to develop a series of standard product offerings is all about simplification. Whilst Burlington will continue to offer a custom-made proposition by manufacturing bespoke products to highly individual design styles and tastes, these can involve long lead times. Giving customers access to a series of off-the-shelf and uniformly-priced product ranges will mean that for the first time in Burlington’s history, the company will be in a position to say to customers ‘if you want it, you can have it.”

In addition to supplying a standardised product offering for flooring, Burlington is currently working on a number of other products areas that will cover the kitchen, bathroom and wet room and landscaping environment. These will be supported by a network of appointed regional specialists, with further assistance emanating from Burlington’s new Lakeland Stone Studio that opens next month (May).

When choosing Burlington natural stone, users and specifiers are investing in an enduring statement of quality and one that requires very little maintenance. As well as being impervious to water, resistant to salt attack, cycles of wetting and drying and extremes of temperature, it is also colourfast, non-combustible and self-cleaning.

Providing a stunning finishing statement within both traditional and contemporary settings, Burlington’s natural stone speaks permanence, consideration and quality.
