Holker Garden Festival 2012

At this year’s Holker Garden Festival taking place from Friday 8th June until Sunday 10th June, come and visit our garden “Floating Away” (Stand no. 44).

Entering this contemporary garden, you would be forgiven for thinking that you were seeing things, as a piece of exquisite natural stone from Burlington will appear to be floating on water, creating an island for sanctuary and reflection!  The slate island created from a 450 million year old piece of slate from Burlington’s Broughton Moor quarry, will be surrounded by complementary green and grey shades of natural stone tiles and mosaics under the water.  To reach this floating natural stone island, there will be 2 stepping stones using the Broughton Moor, whose beautiful green colour will be accentuated thanks to the water lapping over the top.  At the far end of the water pool, there will be a Burlington Stone mosaic-clad structure with a “letter box mouth”, allowing a sheet of water to cascade down into the pool surrounding the slate island.
Look carefully at the Burlington Garden and you will see how the cleverly designed, discreet LED lighting from MARL International accents surfaces and individual features, adds movement and enhances the sense of space and floating away.  Also the green lushness of the tropical planting will ensure the garden truly becomes a haven for tranquillity, and where your imagination too will be allowed to meander!

Oh and don't forget to enter our free prize draw. details below.

Marking 48 years of Service

It was with mixed emotions that Burlington Stone thanked Terry Armistead, Production Manager, for his dedication to the business over the past 48 years and to wish him well in his retirement at a special party on Friday 5th May 2017.  Having joined Burlington Stone at the age of 15, Terry has played a key role within the production facility at Kirkby-in-Furness.  The vast knowledge and experience he has gained over the past 48 years, along with his “can-do” attitude means he will be greatly missed by colleagues and customers alike.  Luckily, Terry has kindly agreed to continue to work for Burlington for a couple of days per week.
