“Large Gold” for Burlington

Burlington Stone are delighted to have won “Large Gold” at this year’s Holker Garden Festival.

With their show garden “Floating Away”, Burlington Stone wowed visitors to their garden with the illusion of a piece of exquisite natural stone appearing to be floating on water and creating an island for sanctuary and reflection.

The 450 million year old piece of slate from Burlington’s Broughton Moor quarry, was surrounded by complementary green and grey shades of natural stone tiles and mosaics under the water.

The exciting new mosaic range from Burlington Stone was also showcased with a mosaic-clad structure, incorporating a “letter box mouth”, which allowed a sheet of water to cascade down into the pool surrounding the slate island.  The green lushness of the planting ensured the garden truly became a haven for tranquillity and where your imagination was allowed to wander.

In addition, with the discreet LED lighting from Marl International, the garden took on a different dimension at dusk.

Already we are now starting to think about next year!

Marking 48 years of Service

It was with mixed emotions that Burlington Stone thanked Terry Armistead, Production Manager, for his dedication to the business over the past 48 years and to wish him well in his retirement at a special party on Friday 5th May 2017.  Having joined Burlington Stone at the age of 15, Terry has played a key role within the production facility at Kirkby-in-Furness.  The vast knowledge and experience he has gained over the past 48 years, along with his “can-do” attitude means he will be greatly missed by colleagues and customers alike.  Luckily, Terry has kindly agreed to continue to work for Burlington for a couple of days per week.
